Kaņepes Kultūras Centrs (KKC)
This 1895 wooden villa has long been a beacon of bohemian spirit in Riga. Originally built as a private residence for an architect, it later housed the Rerich union, sheltered Art and Technical students, and echoed with music as the Jāzeps Mediņš Music School. In 2012, filmmaker Dāvis Kaņepe and team revived it with care, transforming it into a grassroots-run sanctuary for contemporary culture. Now, it lives many lives at once—bar, café, cinema, dance floor, and concert hall. Its raw, handcrafted interior blends fading grandeur with modern DIY flair. Closed more than once, it has been lovingly resurrected each time by a loyal, hipster-spirited community. It showcases a bold mix of local and international artists, always buzz.
