Saxophonia. Paris Jazz Evening

February 21, Friday 2025 19.00
Changes in concert programme – accordionist Vincent Peirani will be replaced by pianists Roberto Negro!

Émile Parisien is a highly acclaimed French alto and soprano saxophonist known for his innovative approach to jazz and contemporary music. Rooted in classical training, his music seamlessly blends traditional jazz idioms with avant-garde techniques, reflecting influences from European classical music, free jazz, and experimental genres. Parisien’s virtuosity lies in his technical mastery, emotive expression, and ability to push the boundaries of his instrument through extended techniques and improvisation. His collaborations with diverse artists and ensembles further showcase his versatility and creative vision, solidifying his reputation as one of the leading voices in modern saxophone performance.

The second part of the concert is the modern jazz group “LUPA”, which is the brain-child of saxophonist Dāvis Jurka, keyboardist Ritvars Garoza, bassist Valters Spružs and drummer Andris Buiķis. The audience is in for a treat, as they will hear familiar pieces from the band’s records “Sequences & Consequences” and “Sketches of Trees”, as well as some brand new compositions.
