It is hard to imagine anyone more famous in Latvia than Raimonds Pauls! Furthermore, the Maestro’s talent has captivated listeners not only at home but also far beyond Latvia’s borders. Whilst being the most well-known Latvian composer, he is also an outstanding pianist, as well as a creative mind with fantastic working abilities, a trendsetter in music and a discoverer of new talents. In his creative work, Raimonds Pauls has been known to elegantly combine contemporary tendencies with enduring values. He has succeeded in organically blending elements of Latvian folk music with characteristics of jazz, blues, rock ’n’ roll, French chanson, German Schlager and traditional songs, creating music that is timely, interesting to everyone, and nevertheless remains extremely democratic.
