Winter Garden of Light TREJDEVIŅI

The fifth "Winter Garden of Lights" stroll will take place in December 2023 and January 2024 at the Latvian Ethnographic Open-Air Museum. This time, the creative team and Latvian light artists invite visitors on an extraordinary journey through magical worlds, inspired by Latvian folk songs, legends, beliefs, and fairy tales woven into one grand mythical adventure, allowing everyone to experience the wonder of the Winter Solstice.

The walk, "Winter Garden of Lights. TREJDEVIŅI," will take everyone—both young and old—on a journey through a magical world. This time, we will venture underground, battle with mosquitoes, solve riddles, listen to bees sing during the Solstice, plant magic beans, and witness a colorful stroll through a magical world.

The new home of the "Winter Garden of Lights" at the Latvian Ethnographic Open-Air Museum is a unique setting for creating light stories. Its authentic, ethnographic, and non-urbanized environment allows artists to express themselves, providing an opportunity for unprecedented light experiments. Therefore, this time, the light walk will feature both artistic and technological surprises. The "Winter Garden of Lights" at the Latvian Ethnographic Open-Air Museum will welcome visitors from December 15, 2023, every evening (except December 24 and 31) from 17:00 to 22:00 (last entry at 21:00). The entrance fee for the Winter Garden of Lights is dynamically determined—early tickets for each visit are more affordable. Each ticket has a specified arrival time to allow visitors to fully enjoy the light walk.

During the walk, there will be no entry with animals, and the Solstice Cafe will operate along the path. Guided tours will be available. For the first time in the "Winter Garden of Lights. TREJDEVIŅI," visitors will have the opportunity to organize a collective Winter Solstice celebration with a special Solstice menu. Visitors are encouraged to bring a good mood and dress according to the weather conditions.
