“...And Paradise Opened for Love...”: a new version of “Demon” directed by Rustem Galich in the multimedia space Digital Art House On November 25 at 19.30 at Digital Art House (2 Skolas Street, Riga), Riga audiences will see a new multimedia version of international musical art project of the Rustem Galich's New York Poetry and Music Theater “...And Paradise Opened for Love...” based on Mikhail Lermontov's poem “Demon”. The performance in Russian is dedicated to the 210th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian poet.

“...And Paradise Opened for Love...” is the mystical love story of a fallen angel Demon for an ordinary woman. And at the same time a hymn to all creators. Lermontov himself and his Demon are among them,” says Rustem Galich, the director of the performance and performer of the main role. -- The project is in a genre that was once dreamed of by Russian artist Mikhail Vrubel, who created many versions of the Demon's portrait and sketches for it. The performance combines poetic word, drama, vocals, music, visual art, light painting and, in the new version, the unique multimedia capabilities of Digital Art House”.

Since 2009, Rustem Galich's Poetry and Music Theater has created more than 50 original stage versions based on Lermontov's poem “Demon”, which have been combined into a large-scale international art project. The productions have been successfully presented in the USA, Germany, Italy, Australia, Estonia, Latvia and other countries around the world, and none of them repeated the other. Some versions were with a small number of performers, while others were characterized by a large scale with the participation of a symphony orchestra, organ, choir, ballet, folklore dance ensemble and several creative groups at once. In Riga, the performance was shown 5 times on different stages and was always a success with the audience.

“Mikhail Lermontov has remade his poem many times, there are 8 editions of “Demon”, - says Rustem Galich. -- In the first half of the XXI century, we want to follow the same creative path that was followed in the XIX century by the great Russian poet, whose 210th anniversary we celebrate this year, and then, at the turn of the XIX and XX centuries, by the brilliant artist Mikhail Vrubel. At the same time, we want to strengthen the accents of goodness, love, faith and light inherent in Lermontov's immortal poem, including with the help of modern multimedia technologies”.

Rustem Galich (New York) is an actor, director, graduate of the Schepkin Higher Theater School. Since 2000 he living and working in the USA. He is the founder of the Theater of Poetry and Music in New York, under the auspices of which have been created more than 10 poetry and music programs and performances. Many of them, such as “Egyptian Nights”, “Poets' Ball”, “Our Familiar, Sergei Yesenin,” ”Gypsies“ and others, are familiar to Latvian audiences. The performance features Inguna Grinberga, a pianist and organist who has taken part in all of Rustem Galich's productions since 2011, and the Accolada choir under the direction of Oksana Cherkasova, which performed in Galich's concert in honor of Pushkin's anniversary in June of this year and absolutely captivated the audience with its performance.
