“The event that was worth waiting for" - LOBODA made a sensation with a major solo concert in Riga.
People were stretched in line for hundreds of meters to see their favorite artist perform
On June 10, LOBODA gathered several thousand people under the open sky for a big charity concert at Wondersala in Riga. The singer presented her latest album "Made in U", which became one of the most listened to albums in recent months and made it into the top 25 albums on Apple Music Latvia this spring.
The audience sang along not only the old hits, but also the new ones - "Nikomy to ne treba", "Po-Ukrainsky", "Molytva". Wondersala, filled to capacity, was blooming with Ukrainian flags and the singer's fans could not contain their emotions.
"Right now, a monstrous unjust war is going on in my country. Russia is constantly taking lives from Ukrainians and it is a tragedy that I live with every day. Therefore, of course, I primarily want to thank all of you for coming, because part of the proceeds from this concert will go to help the residents of the Kherson region, who were affected by the terrible tragedy at the Kakhovka HPP," - LOBODA addressed the fans with undisguised pain.
The singer also expressed special gratitude to Latvia itself, which had become a second home for LOBODA.
"Today, I can confidently say that Riga is my hometown. My family, my children live here. I have loved this city with all my soul and it is a great joy for me to sing here this evening," the artist added.
The audience called their favorite singer back for an encore several times and LOBODA did indeed reappear on stage, performing the legendary composition "Carol of the Bells" by Mykola Leontovych. The singer's final word at the concert was a loud and proud "Glory to Ukraine!", after which Svetlana left the stage to incessant ovations and cries of "Glory to the Heroes". Some of the audience didn’t want to leave for a long time, waiting for their idol at the backstage entrance.
"We are very grateful to Svetlana for the colossal help she is providing to Ukraine - rebuilding Irpin, million-dollar donations, cars, apartments. She does not stand aside from our common misfortune for a single day. I am really looking forward to the moment when I can go to LOBODA's solo concert at home, in a peaceful, free Ukraine," shared Yulia from Kiev, who took the seats in the front row before everyone else.
To those who didn’t get a chance to see LOBODA in Riga - there’s no need to get upset. On August 17, the superstar will perform her massive show on the stage of "Dzintari" in Jurmala.
