With absolutely new set-list, which has been led by the band’s latest album Desire, the Manchester duo Hurts will perform at Arena Riga on November 9th.
During their relatively short, but lustrous career those British guys so loved here in Latvia, are announcing a release of their fourth studio album. The first single from the album called Beautuful Ones is on heavy radio rotation for more than a month now. NME characterises it so: “Beautiful Ones takes the full-blown pomp of their trademark Euro-synth-pop sound and gives it more of a shameless and infectious dancefloor sheen, loaded with classic rock, guitar solo crescendos”. What concerns the video footage made to the song, it’s described as: “.. themes of hate, love, brutality and beauty are explored throughout the piece which is rooted in both intrigue and empathy.”
The album Desire is scheduled to release on 29th of September. Observing listeners responsiveness to success of Beautiful Ones, there is reason to conclude that already exuberant collection of Hurts massive hits, like Wonderful Life, Better Than Love, Stay, Sunday, Blood, Tears & Gold, Illuminated, Miracle, Somebody To Die For, Blind, Surrender, Some Kind Of Heaven, Nothing Will Be Bigger Than Us, Wings, Rolling Stone, Wish etc., will be toped-up with the new ones.
Actually it’s indirectly confirmed by the Hurts themselves: "It gives us great pleasure to announce Desire. An album full of passion, pain and lust. And, some of the best music we've ever made".
Unlike many other bands, the wide recognition hit Hurts right with release of their debut album Happiness in 2010. Six singles from just one record topped the charts all over Europe. The album was certificated Gold in the UK, Austria, Finland and Double Platinum in both Germany and Poland. At least in charts of 12 European countries the album reached Top 10. In Latvia it was Nr. 2.
With following albums Exile (2013) and Surrender (2015), the band kept strengthening their position in pop- Olympus.
Alongside to own career, there are various collaborations developing as well. Let us name a vocal contribution to Under Control (2013) of Calvin Harris&Alesso or co-writing and backing vocals to Modern Love (2017) single of The Courteeners.
Synthpop duo Hurts are formed in Manchester in 2009 by singer Theo Hutchcraft and multi-instrumentalist Adam Anderson. The band’s signatures are classy, a bit old-fashioned dress code, great melodies more typical to the 80’s rather than nowadays, often dark, but intriguing lyrics, which are highlighted by the vocal full of pain and despair.
One can not deny also the importance of the elegant videos, which often features the surprising turns.
