The largest Baltic Oyster Festival will take place in Bergs Bazaar!
On Saturday, 16 September, oyster and seafood lovers are invited to the 12th Riga Oyster Festival, during which 12,000 oysters will be opened and eaten! The event will take place from 12:00 - 21:00 in the Bergs Bazaar area near the Buržujs restaurant.
During the festival, there will be an oyster speed-cooking competition, 12 different types of oysters and a wide range of seafood street food. The bravest oyster lovers will be able to try their hand at this delicacy in a speed competition.
The special guest of the event will be Anti Lepik, multiple World Oyster Champion, who will give an oyster shucking demonstration. The main event of the festival will be a competition between the best oyster shuckers from Finland, Estonia and Latvia.
During the festival, there will be a creative workshop for children, various competitions, musical surprises, a mime and a magician to entertain the guests.
The Riga Oyster Festival takes place twice a year - in May and September. The number of oysters opened during the event has grown from 3 000 at the first festival to 12 000 today.
