From 6 to 12 August, the 5th International Operetta Festival will take place in Ikšķilė, offering a magnificent programme of musical theatre genres for all musical tastes - from operetta melodies to jazz. The festival will launch the 10th anniversary celebrations of the non-governmental Operetta Theatre.

On Sunday, 6 August, at 18.00, the festival will take place in Ikšķiles St. Meinards Ev. "VIVAT!", the opening concert of the festival, will take place at the Mežinkis Lutheran Church on 6.00 pm. It will feature talented young people from Latvian music high schools and school graduates who have already proven themselves and achieved their first successes - both young vocalists and instrumentalists. And it is possible that these young musicians will one day in the future be the sounding heralds of our Operetta Theatre.

On Wednesday, 9 August, at 19.00, the Ikšķile Folk House will host the concert "Jazz Transformations. Like a ray of light...". For the first time, the festival will offer an opportunity to get to know the multifaceted world of jazz music, as well as the young and passionate professionals of this genre. The concert, whose musical core will be formed by jazz singer Edīte Štrausa and pianist Matīss Žilinskis. The concert will feature popular themes by composers Raimonds Pauls, Ģederts Ramans, Uldis Stabulnieks, Gunārs Rozenbergs and others, as well as jazz paraphrases of themes by Matīss Žilinskis' grandfather, the great melodist Arvīds Žilinskis, as well as famous operetta composers. The singer's original composition "My Path of Light", which was composed while she was learning vocal skills in Italy, will also be performed. The accompanying instrumental group will include Jānis Pastars (guitar), Artūrs Sebris (saxophone), Rihards Jakuško (percussion) and Pēteris Liepiņš (double bass).
Friday, 11 August, at 19.00 A magnificent concert of the festival GALĀ will take place at the Ikšķile Stage, where outstanding soloists, already popular in Latvia, will delight with their brilliant talent: Oleksandr Chuvpilo (tenor), leading soloist of the Academic State Operetta Theatre in Kiev (Ukraine), Mariya Arutiunova (soprano), Andrius Apšega (baritone), leading soloists of the State Musical Theatre in Kaunas (Lithuania); Soloists of the Operetta Theatre (Latvia) Sonora Vaice (soprano), Anta Jankovska (soprano/Italia), Laura Purena-Kancāne (soprano), Dainis Skutelis (tenor), Kārlis Rūtentāls (tenor), Nauris Indzeris (baritone), etc.
After the concert, from 22:00, the Operetta Theatre Symphony Orchestra and conductor Atvars Lakstīgala invite you to the unique and traditional Waltz Evening, featuring the elegant and sparkling waltzes and polkas of Johann Strauss, giving you the opportunity to experience the elegance and unforgettable presence of a real Viennese waltz tour under the starry sky. The dance tour lasts one hour. For those who have purchased a ticket for the Gala Concert, admission to the Waltz Evening is free of charge.
The festival is organised by the Operetta Theatre in cooperation with the Ikšķile Town and Tīnūži Parish Administrations and the Ogre County Council.
