From November 16, 2018 until November 28, 2018 Art gallery Putti presents Latvian contemporary jewellery artist’s Valdis Brože personal exhibition
“Valdis Brože. IMPRINT”
The artist Valdis Brože while creating this jewellery collection, paid special attention to the materials found in the territory of Latvia and the historical footprints left on our soil, which directly or indirectly influenced us – the people living in this area. “The forms that today seem natural and self-evident are formed in the processes of the past” says Valdis.
Imprint is a sign or contour caused by the pressure of one object on the surface of another object. Like a footprint in sand… As a result of an imprint the story changes both in content and structure, creating a new story. The pieces displayed in the exhibition have their own story – the reflection of historical dynamics – in a contemporary performance.
“This will be my attempt to look back at the past. To go on a trip and tell what I’ve seen and found. To explore the reasons that have changed the environment and the reasons that have made me see the world as I see it and how I respond to it. To embark the known and unknown and the world around me in a new light …” says Valdis Brože.
Materials used in the jewellery: by the Ogre River accidentally discovered stone with the time imprint, gagata (jets) – a fossilized tree, optical glass, serpentine, spinel and other materials in combination with noble metals – silver, gold.
Valdis Brože is the graduate of the Visual Communication Department of the Latvian Academy of Art. He works with gold, silver, various gemstones and semi-precious stones. The artist’s power is to work with enamel and a game with the intensity of colors, combining it in striking combinations. Surrealism is a striking feature in the works.
The works displayed in the gallery can be purchased.
