The free opening concert of the festival will also feature a performance of Jānis Petraškevičius' diptych "Madman's Glove I-II". "Madman's Glove I", composed especially for the Skaņu mežs festival, will be played by Magdalena Geka, a Latvian violinist currently living in France, and will be a world premiere, while "Madman's Glove II" will be played by Ivars Brīnums, a violinist of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra - this second part of the diptych has been performed in Japan before, but will have its Latvian premiere on the concert evening.
