First, for four evenings and one night, the audience is invited to experience a "Gordoniade". A cycle of works for the same instruments by the well-known American composer Michael Gordon will be performed in a landscape created by the artist Andris Eglītis in the interior of the Platform. The concerts will take place over four evenings on 3, 4, 7 and 8 August and will successively feature:
'Amplified', a piece for four electric guitars, performed by Rihards Goba (3 August at 21.00);
'Timber', a piece for six percussion instruments or symphantras, performed by the Wood Sextet under the direction of Guntaras Freibergs (4 August at 21.00);
'Rushes' for seven bassoons, read by the Reed Septet conducted by Raimonds Gulbis (7 August at 20.00);
a piece for eight cellos '8' interpreted by the Wild Octet under the direction of Diana Ozoliņa (8 August at 20.00).
"The Gordoniade will end with a night concert on 9 August, when a limited number of people are invited to spend the night in Perona. Arrive at sunset, bringing sleeping bags and other outdoor gear of your choice, and experience a consecutive performance of all four pieces by the musicians and ensembles mentioned above. As the sun rises and the last bars of 'Timber' are played, travellers will wake up from a real or waking dream.
