Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – 270
Not only in terms of quantity, but also in terms of quality, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s musical legacy is remarkable and significant, retaining its relevance in today’s world. The works of the great Viennese composer live on in opera houses and concert halls, and in countless recordings. They inspire new works and are reimagined in the languages of jazz and rock music. They are also transformed into electronic versions and serve as a source of inspiration for popular music, mobile phone ringtones and video game soundtracks. Having started as a child prodigy, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart left behind a legacy as a master of his craft. And although the emotional centre of gravity of his music is sometimes unjustly narrowly defined as a concentrate of sunshine, light, and joy of life, Mozart’s music, in fact, deeply, powerfully, and convincingly encompasses the entire human spirit, as will be demonstrated by the concert programme dedicated to the genius’s 270th anniversary. With Aivis Greters at the conductor’s podium, it brings together the chamber orchestra Sinfonietta Rīga, the Latvian Radio Choir and a brilliant ensemble of soloists – soprano Annija Kristiāna Ādamsone, soprano Etīna Emīlija Saulīte and tenor Mārtiņš Šmaukstelis.

Due to the illness of soloist Annija Kristiāna Ādamsone, she will be replaced by Katrīna Paula Felsberga. Please also note the updated concert program.
