PROGRAMME:
Claude DEBUSSY Jeux
Miklós RÓZSA Sinfonia Concertante for violin, cello, and orchestra
Pyotr TCHAIKOVSKY Simfony no. 5 in E minor
The concert will bring together the Russian Romantic Peter Tchaikovsky and the French Impressionist inspired by his music Claude Debussy, as well as the 20th-century Hungarian-American composer Miklós Rózsa, best known for his extraordinary film scores. Tchaikovsky's Fifth, which culminates lyrically with a French horn solo in the second movement, Debussy's shimmering melodic games, and Rózsa’s vibrant opus so characteristic to Hungarian music will invite the audience to a musical conversation between three sophisticated and intelligent composers, performed by the LNSO and three world-class Latvian musicians – violinist Eva Bindere, cellist Kristīne Blaumane, and conductor Ainārs Rubiķis.
