Daniils Bulajevs and Agnese Egliņa first met each other in music in 2021, when they played together at the Great Music Award ceremony. The violinist was nominated in the category “Young Artist of the Year”, but the pianist received the award in the category "Outstanding Performance Throughout the Year". The rapport between the two temperamental and energetic musicians was so natural and mutually inspiring that they still play music together. In the concert programme “Romantic Violin at Christmas”, the two talents have combined opuses permeated with classical elegance and virtuosic energy, whose composers' lives throughout the ages have been closely linked to the enchanting atmosphere of Vienna. Next to the great Romantic songwriter Franz Schubert's First Violin Sonata, full of light lyricism and Mozartian elegance, and the Rondo Brillant, full of expressive brilliance, we have Fritz Kreisler's charming Alt-Wiener Tanzweisen (Old Viennese Dances) and Johannes Brahms' dazzling scherzo from the legendary F. A. E. Sonatas. Meanwhile, the timeless Adagietto from Gustav Mahler's Fifth Symphony, enveloped in aching melancholy, compellingly harmonises with masterpieces by two representatives of the so-called Second Viennese School – Anton Webern's exquisite and meticulously polished Four Pieces for Violin and Piano, Op.7 and Arnold Schoenberg's sparklingly rhapsodic Fantasie.
