From March 2nd to 9th the International Documentary Film Festival Artdocfest/Riga will take place in Riga for the third time, giving the audience the opportunity to see the newest documentary cinema made by world renowned documentary filmmakers. A special attention this year will be paid to movies made in Ukraine and by Ukrainian documentary filmmakers.
This will be the third edition of Artrdocfest/Riga. This year the festival will offer two competition programes – “Baltic Focus” and “Artdocfest Open” – and two out-of-competition programes – “War Before War” and “ArtPro & ProArt”. Many of the films have had their screenings in important film festivals around the world, and have gained recognition by industry professionals, such as the opening movie of the festival – “A House Made of Splinters” by Simon Lereng Wilmont, who is nominated for an Academy Award this year.
Artdocfest/Riga will also offer Special Screenings of three movies: “Eastern Front”, by Vitaly Mansky and Yevhen Titorenko, “Music under the Swastika – The Maestro and the Cellist of Auschwitz” by Christian Berger and “2020. On love and freedom” by Vitaly Mansky.
The festival will also host Symposium sessions curated by Rita Ruduša, where documentary filmmakers will discuss the choices which filmmakers have to make in time of war.
