The opera Valentina's Love Story is dedicated to the Latvian cultural legend - film scientist Valentina Freimane (1922-2018) and sheds light on the dramatic pages of Latvian and European history, culture and society between 1939 and 1944. It is a story of profound love in a complex socio-political time.
The production is an artistic new stage interpretation of the first opera Valentīna by the internationally renowned Latvian composer Arturas Maskats - a full-format opera in the format of a chamber opera - a multimedia mono-opera. The opera's historic world premiere took place on 5 December 2014 and became one of the most important events of the Riga - European Year of Culture. The libretto by Liana Langa and Arturas Maskats is based on Valentina Freimane's autobiographical novel "Goodbye, Atlantis!" based on the novel "Atlantis.
Having successfully made her directorial debut in 2021 - the production of "The Voice of Man.Telephone" received the Great Music Award, Sonora Vaice is creating a new directorial idea - a musically vivid multimedia stage chamber version of Valentina Freimane's love story.
