Ruslan Vilensky is a brilliant Latvian cellist, whose art is well known all over the world. He was 15 years old when he made his debut with Latvian National Symphony Orchestra. Discovered by the legendary cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, he was the pupil of a world renowned Professor David Geringas and Latvian born cellist Eleonora Testelec. He has become a sought-after soloist and chamber musician and has been invited to perform at the world’s most prominent venues such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Konzerthaus Berlin, Berliner Philharmonie, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Theater Diligentia den Haag, Berwaldhallen Stockholm, Mariinsky Hall St. Petersburg, Jazzhus Montmartre. From 2007 until 2009 he was a fellow of the Orchestra Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic. After an invitation from Maestro Valery Gergiev in October 2009 he was a Principal Guest Cellist at the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra. Prizewinner of the international competitions such as A. Khachaturyan, K. Davidov, D. Popper, Concertino Praga.
