Performances by: Raimonds Pauls, Ksenija Sidorova, Latvian Radio Big Band, string ensemble of “Sinfonietta Rīga” Chamber Orchestra Program: Antonín Dvořák, Giacomo Puccini, George Gershwin, Giuseppe Verdi, Richard Wagner, Camille Saint-Saëns, Jacques Offenbach, Georges Bizet.
The opera arias and melodies by world-famous composers included in this program have been arranged by the British musician Callum Au, with whom the Latvian Radio Big Band has successfully cooperated in the past, including the recent project Johann Sebastian Bach Piano Concert in D Minor, where the aspiring artist was very successful in fusing Bach's music with jazz rhythms, and used surprising musical harmonies to highlight previously unseen facets in the sound of the Latvian Radio Big Band. While retaining the original essence and beauty of the melodies, the program "Opera Arias" will also reveal a new and surprising, harmonically splendid blend with touches of jazz and the special piano sound that is so characteristic of the legendary Maestro. The program includes the most beautiful melodies by Italian masters Giacomo Puccini, Vincenzo Bellini and Giuseppe Verdi, as well as creations by Richard Wagner and themes from French opera music - works by Camille Saint-Saëns and Jacques Offenbach, as well as George Bizet's Carmen, Rusalka by the Czech romanticist Antonín Dvořák, and the masterpiece of George Gershwin Porgy and Bess.
