Autumn Chamber Music. Brahms Plakidis Impressions

It is commonly said that Johannes Brahms sensed things with his head, but thought about them with his heart. Something similar can be said about Pēteris Plakidis, because the classical and self-disciplined German romanticist is, to a certain extent, a spiritual relative of the Latvian composer, an absolute contrast, but certainly a source of inspiration. To celebrate Plakidis’ 70th birthday, brilliant musicians will gather on stage to perform his beloved Brahms, his own legendary “Dedication to Brahms,” and a series of jewels of vocal chamber music that Plakidis has composed. Four Latvian composers of various generations will send musical greeting cards to Plakidis – four Latvian chamber musicians and four Latvian composers, each with his or her own story about the composer. For some of them, he has been known as an outstanding chamber musician and performance partner, while for others he is known as an erudite pedagogue who has eventually turned from a colleague into a friend. Everyone knows Pēteris Plakidis as one of the most original Latvian composers, with outstanding stylisation, cleverness and light sarcasm. He is a master of deep and simple experiences.
